Academic Bridge Programs
Our Academic Bridge Programs offer international students a BRIDGE to their college education at Diablo Valley College. This program ensures success at community colleges and universities by offering 2 pre-selected, academic courses along with study sessions, academic seminars, campus visits, and a wide variety of activities. The Academic Bridge Program is designed to allow students to successfully transition from study outside of the USA to a full-time academic program. Our experienced faculty and staff give Academic Bridge Program students the confidence and skills they need in order to succeed. Students take two pre-selected courses which are transferable to the CSU and UC systems.
Requirements:
A minimum TOEFL score of 490 (paper), 57 (iBT – Internet-based test), ITEP 4.0, or a 5.0 bandwidth score on the IELTS, and 18 years of age or high school graduate.

Classes:
- English 162 – Language, Literature and Culture (3 transferable units)
- Oceanography 101 – Fundamentals of Oceanography (3 transferable units)
Includes:
- Tuition
- Homestay for 8 weeks (single room, 2 meals during the week, 3 meals during the weekend)
- processing
- placement fees
- end of program activities, and some selected activities.
Not included:
- express mail
- medical insurance
- airport pickup
- books and materials
- $50 DVC Application Fee (please include separate payment for DVC)
Deposit:
- $400 non-refundable fee submitted with application
